Find out about homeopathic remedies that can be used for herpes. These homeopathic medicines include Mercurius solubilis, sulphur, borax and thuja.
Herpes is a common sexually transmitted disease that can affect both the mouth and the genitals. Herpes can spread easily and can occur with or without symptoms. Herpes is caused by two separate but closely related viruses. These viruses are herpes simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2. Both herpes viruses are easy to catch and remain in the system for life, causing symptoms that will come and go. Both herpes viruses can infect the genital area or oral area, or both, although oral herpes is usually caused by herpes virus type 1 and genital herpes is usually caused by herpes virus type 2. Oral herpes is more common and affects well over half of the American population.
Although there are no cures for herpes, there are ways to help control the condition, prevent breakups and help treat and improve the symptoms. Homeopathy can’t be used to replace any prescription drugs which are sometimes used for herpes but can be used in addition to prescriptions or over-the-counter medications.
Mercurius Solubilis and Sulphur for Herpes
Mercurius solubilis is a homeopathic medicine that should be used for herpes that is characterized with cold sores, as well as gums that bleed and a foul smelling breath. This homeopathic treatment works especially well for cold sores that have symptoms that tend to worsen throughout the night.
Sulphur can be used for herpes that is characterized with lesions that burn, or are inflamed and itchy. Usually those who will benefit from this homeopathic treatment have symptoms that improve with cold applications.
Borax and Thuja for Herpes
The homeopathic remedy borax can be used for herpes that is characterized by blisters that appear around the mouth. Borax should be taken in 30c dosages twice per day. If no improvement occurs after 48 hours, this homeopathic treatment should be discontinued.
Thuja can help prevent cold sore breakouts, and is also commonly used to help prevent genital herpes breakouts. Thuja can worsen some herpes symptoms if not used properly, so it should only be taken if suggested by a licensed homeopath.
Although homeopathic remedies can be very effective in helping with herpes, they should never be used in place of any required prescription drugs or medications. Rather, homeopathic remedies should be used in addition to any medical treatments currently being used for herpes.
